stair protectors, straight stairs

The mosaic surfaces of concrete element stairs endure heavy use from the early stages of construction, which is why they need thorough protection. Stairs are frequently exposed to water, snow, paint, plaster and other dirt. Well-protected stairs significantly reduce final-stage repair work and costs on the construction site. Plywood stair protectors are extremely durable and can be reused if the dimensions match the stair element. The protector's rough wire-surface ensures occupational safety and maintains traction even when wet. The bottom of the guard features padding, allowing it to sit slightly off the mosaic surface. This gap allows dust, moisture, and water to move between the guard and the concrete surface.

Stair guards are custom-made according to the stair element's dimensions and are connected at the top and bottom, creating a comprehensive and functional unit. Custom-made guards are also easy to install.

Our standard stair protector fits straight and inclined stairs without side beams, which are 1200 mm wide with a depth of 300 mm. The same protector is also suitable for a straight-tread stair with a depth of 270 mm, provided the stair has a 20 mm toe space/nosing, as per the example above. In the mentioned cases, the guard is installed in only one sequence. The height of the step can vary between 110-190 mm.

The necessary information needed for designing and implementing stair protection includes:

  • Width of the element
  • Depth of step
  • Height of step
  • Quantity of elements
  • Number of step ups per element
  • Thickness of the step plate
  • Measurements of the toe space (depth)
  • Possible side beam (thickness)

If it's feasible to provide manufacturing drawings from the stair manufacturer, the protection can be best designed based on those specifications.
